Just arrived in Helsinki with Xavier, I have played with Christian‘s brand new N90 Carl Zeiss optics (rotating), very nice design, amazing picture quality you can check on Christian’s blog (whose TypePad blog design is very cool too).
It will come with a new version of Lifeblog that can take pictures directly from the pictures and video application.
Ah, before I forget, my little finger tells me (as we say in French, no idea in english) that the Tiger Mac users will soon be happy with their Nokia phones…
I just got my new Nokia 6680 and it rocks. It is much faster than my old 7610, has one 1.3 megapixel camera in the back and a VGA one in the front, it is 3G to allow fast data transfer and video conferencing (I tried with the French operator Orange my first video call and it is really cool). The pictures and small videos are very good and the built-in flash helps. The design is cool and has no weird keyboard or other unnecessary toys.
I am trying to use it also to replace my keyboard blackberry but that is the only weakness, no push email and no keyboard. I tried profimail which is quite good but is not as fast as the blackberry application to read and answer emails. Now I need to find a bluetooth portable keyboard (or may be this one) to see if I can really get rid of my blackberry.
The experience I have had with this new 6680 phone is excellent, I just need to get a copy of Tiger now to see if I can even sync my Mac with it.
Martin Higham has created a great plugin for Movable Type to use Nokia’s LifeBlog with it. You can now post directly from your Nokia phone into your MT blog using the great features of LifeBlog (weblog selection, category management, picture resizing, multi-picture posting, …).
I am at Cebit today. Siemens has just launched its brand new java client for moblogging on new Siemens phones. It is so cool the TypePad logo shows up on the phone. You can take pictures and video and blog them directly on the blog of your choice from the client. Siemens has a special booth for moblogging featuring this new phone. A lot of people on the booth.
The well known French non profit association Secours Populaire Français is now equipped with a TypePad moblog and a Nokia 7610 with Lifeblog to report from Asia. A team has already arrived in Thailand and another one leaves on tuesday for India.
Joël Ronez of the SPF, who had the idea to launch this moblog, tells me that they already have made excellent contacts in Asia thanks to this blog. Good luck !
