Build Your Own Brand S1 E7: Public search is changing the deal

It’s all public. It made Twitter huge. Here is how you should deal with it. 24 hours a day. This is the Episode #7 of the 30 HD videos series Build Your Own Brand.

What made Twitter become such a big success is that it’s all public.

It became like the pulse of the world.

There is this plane crashing in the Hudson River. The world knows about it on Twitter.

The first picture goes on Twitter and so on…

What’s great is that there is public search on Twitter so you can know what people are saying about you or your brand very easily.

You just go to twitter.com or search.twitter.com, type “running”, you will find what people say about running.

Type your brand. Type “seesmic”. Type “France” if you want to know everything about France or Cheese or whatever.

You could put your competition. You could do simple things like “OR” you could do “this OR that” or “seesmic OR loic”.

You will see results with what the world is saying about this.

Sometimes it can be a little noisey. It can be terms that are used for something else so, you might want to narrow it down.

Use public search to see what people are saying about your brand.

If you get a lot of criticism, that’s good news actually. I think it’s better than nothing.

There is also public search on Google Buzz and so on… Concentrate on Twitter first.

Monitor what is being said on it about you about your brand about your competitors about your space.

You will see that you will learn a lot.
