New Experimental Seesmic Site

We have been working on an important update to the Seesmic platform, and are excited to show our new Seesmic UI and get your feedback. It is experimental, still has a few glitches we're fixing as we hear from our community, which is the whole point of launching it on a separate url: http://new.seesmic.com

The new site has basically the same feature set as the old one right now but is a much better platform to add features to.

Updates include:

-no more huge flash except in the player. We heard you, it was the #1 request of the community. The new Seesmic should be light, fast to load and easy to access.
-white and not black. Colors are always a debate but a majority of members wanted white. White is good for seesmic-ing as it lights your face in the dark
-auto-refreshing timeline, no need to reload anything
-videos now play in the thumbnails themselves so that you can watch them without having to leave the timeline
-user and video search (plus you can bookmark your searches)
-new user profile pages try any seesmic.com/username
-type a friends name as a recipient for a video
-multiple privacy posting options (public, hide from public timeline, private)
-RSS and Atom feeds for public and user timelines, with enclosures
-Cooliris view (top corner button). We're very excited to announce our partnership with Cooliris (thanks Tiil for the idea). Now you can have the full Seesmic experience in the impressive 3D Piclens interface, and even reply to videos from there. Seesmic videos will also be easy to find from Cooliris for their current users.

There are a few features from the old Seesmic that did not make it yet and we are adding them quickly:
-posting youtube videos
-language filters
-upload a video

We hope you like the new Seesmic! It is only a beginning, a new platform for many exciting upcoming features. As always, we are very interested in your feedback. Please report bugs about new.seesmic.com to http://snipurl.com/8aq6y

update: we already started incorporating your feedback
-you wanted to enlarge the video thumbnails as they play inline, and we just added it, please keep the feedback coming!
-we just added mp4 and flv download links, just click on "more" in the timelines

About

Welcome to my blog. Based in San Francisco, I am an entrepreneur and a blogger. I just started my fifth startup, Seesmic, a community driven video social software. Here is what TechCrunch says about it.

I am blogging every day a video on loic.tv about (almost) everything I do as I start Seesmic, I also constantly post short thoughts to twitter and often my pictures on Flickr.

I also organize every year in Paris the conference LeWeb3 that gathers more than a thousand bloggers and entrepreneurs from 40 countries on Dec 11 and 12.

If you would like to learn more, here is a bio, my LinkedIn profile, my wikipedia pages in english and french. Sometimes they are subject to changes that do not always reflect what I consider the truth but that is the principle.

You may also want to subscribe to my RSS feeds in English, French or my video podcast feed.
